Love And Color

I thought of color and came out with these two ryhming romantic love poems. The first one is about choosing a flower and what it typically signifies when we give someone a red rose.

A Red Rose

If I have to pick a color of a rose
Red it would have to be for it shows
A love that is deep and echoes
In a heart which holds someone close.

Like a stubborn flame that glows
Undying even when the wind blows
That is how for you my love flows
Signified by the single red stalk I chose.

This second romantic love poem is about the color of love with red typically being linked to passion. Apart from trying to make it ryhme, I have also attempted to play with the length of the lines to make it into a nice shape to give the poem a more special feel.

The Color Of Love

If love has a color
Let it be red and no other
For red means passion for a lover
Like how I feel for you since we got together
Heady and passionate kisses that nothing else matter
Many we have shared that made nights hotter
Waking up beside you the day after
I am tempted to whisper
I love you forever.

You are in good company with this comparison. In case you aren’t familiar with it, thought you might enjoy this 1794 poem/song by Robert Burns:

My love is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June :
My love is like the melody
    That’s sweetly played in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in love am I :
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun :
And I will love thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only love,
And fare thee weel a while !
And I will come again, my love,
Thou’ it were ten thousand mile.

You had a lot of fun with this…and so did I. I like the way you shaped the word length to look like this.

Glad you joined in! I think both are truly romantic!
    The second being more passionate.

  8. Vixen

You did a great job with both of them. That second one is a work of art with the shaping.
